NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANIZATION (NATO)
Limak Atlantis Deluxe Resort & Hotel • March 2-6, 2020
The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) is a political and military alliance of 29 Member States spread throughout Europe and North America. Founded on 4 April 1949 with the Washington Treaty, the Alliance is the biggest and, arguably, most successful military alliance of the world to date.
United under the common goal of collective defense enshrined in Article 5 of the Treaty, NATO is a monument to the commitment of its Member States to ensuring the security of one another through political and military means.
By marking its 70 years, NATO is simultaneously stronger and more fragile than ever, with emerging threats looming on every front. The question lingers about whether the transatlantic alliance will remain relevant among political tensions in an ever-changing world or fail to adapt and ultimately fall obsolete.
