About MBMD

MUNTR conferences are being organized by the Model United Nations Association (MBMD-Model Birleşmiş Milletler Derneği), which is a registered association based in Ankara, Turkey.

Founded in 2008, MBMD has its roots in MUNTR Platform, a body that brought together various MUN, Law, Economy, Political Science and International Relations societies of different universities since 2005.

The MUNTR Platform had become a pioneer of MUN education and conferences in Turkey, especially among universities through organizing MUNTR conferences since 2005 in Ankara and Istanbul. Prior to the MUNTR 2009 conference, MUNTR Platform members took the first steps to institutionalize their work by establishing an association.

In this respect, MBMD provides the institutional identity to the MUNTR Organization and Academic Teams, by helping them to conduct their work on a legal basis.

MBMD has been supported institutionally by the UN Resident Coordinator’s office and UN Turkey Permanent Representation. MUNTR 2005 conference, our first MUN conference had been funded by the UN Turkey Permanent Representation, and their contribution is ever increasing over the years.

MBMD has embraced the principle of “for the youth, by the youth” and has been governed by young university students under the guidance of the UN Permanent Representation and various academic and bureaucratic personalities. In all aspects of the organization, voluntary young people contributes to the services and events of the Model UN Association in a professional work ethic.  

The MBMD is being governed and supervised by its Executive and Supervisory Boards and its General Assembly. These bodies are responsible for posting, tasking and supervising the members and the work of MUNTR Organization and Academic Team members.
