The Model United Nations Turkey (MUNTR) Platform was established in 2004, out of a collaboration of the MUN and International Relations societies of various Turkish universities. Membership to the platform is open to all universities who share the aims of the organization (outlined below). Any universities/organizations wishing to become members of the MUNTR Platform are required to have attended at least one MUNTR Conference.

Mission
The MUNTR Platform aims to:
- spread the principles and values of the United Nations to young people,
- help realize the ideals of the United Nations,
- enhance students' diplomatic proficiency, knowledgeability, and international
conference experience through interacting with others in a setting embracing
dialogue, allowing for creative solutions to current crises gripping the global
agenda.
To this end, the MUNTR Platform:
- organizes an international English-language Model United Nations Conference
in Turkey where students represent countries other than their own in simulated
United Nations branches and bodies,
- provides academic support for university-level Model United Nations societies,
and assists in the establishment of such societies where none exist,
- works in coordination with the United Nations House in Ankara, benefiting
from its services and cooperating with its cultural and educational branches.
