Being the first committee of United Nations General Assembly, Disarmament and International Security Committee mainly seeks solutions to problems regarding present and possible threats to international security and world peace as well as issues on disarmament of member states. DISEC sessions are built on three distinguishing stages consisting of general debate, thematic discussions, and action on draft documents relating to all disarmament and international security issues within the scope of the UN Charter. DISEC also holds the privilege of being the only main General Assembly committee that is entitled to verbatim records coverage. It gathers once in every year and works closely with United Nations Disarmament Commission and Conference on Disarmament.
