Aiming to advance the three dimensions of sustainable development -economic, social, and environmental- Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is one of the six main organs of the United Nations. Established in 1945 to be the main venue of the UN for the discussion of international economic and social issues ECOSOC is the largest and most complex subsidiary body of the United Nations. As a central platform to foster debate on internationally agreed goals, ECOSOC coordinates efforts of various UN entities including commissions, specialized agencies, programmes, and funds. It acts as a meeting point for various stakeholders to discuss global issues with short sessions, preparatory meetings, round tables, and panel discussions in addition to holding High-Level Segments such as High-Level Political Forum and Development Cooperation Forum.
