Organization of American States
The Organization of American States (OAS) is the world’s oldest regional organization dating back to the First International Conference of American States, held at late 1889. OAS came into formal existence in 1948 in Colombia. The organization is established to achieve an order of peace and justice, to promote solidarity, to strengthen collaboration among its member states, and to defend their sovereignty and integrity. OAS brings together 35 independent states to effectively implement its essential purposes: democracy, human rights, security, and development. OAS will be simulated as a crisis committee.
