Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is a regional organization based upon economic, military, and cultural cooperation amongst member states in the Eurasian region. Headquarters of this organization is located in Beijing, China. Between April 1996 and June 2001, five of the member states became known as the Shanghai Five by signing a treaty on military trust in China. On 15 June 2001, the Shanghai five and Uzbekistan signed and established the Charter of Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Shanghai Cooperation Organisation acts as forum for cooperation in politics, trade, economy, culture, and energy among member countries. Agenda of the Organization includes military and counter-terrorism cooperation and intelligence sharing as well as regional economic initiatives like the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Eurasian Economic Union. Cooperation on security-related issues include combatting three evils of terrorism, separatism, and extremism.
Futuristic Shanghai Cooperation Organisation will take place in the year 2023 and will reflect the changes in international and regional politics that are projected to happen a five year period.
